Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined

Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined

Yesterday marked the tenth anniversary for the insanely popular Twilight novel, the first book in the series by Stephenie Meyer. Instead of releasing a new cover and foreword. Meyers reworked the entire novel from a boys prospective. Beau the boy version of Bella is supposed to show that Bella wasn’t just a “damsel in distress.” She wants the reader to know that boys need rescuing as well. But did she need to rewrite the entire novel? Meyers wanted readers know that the situation could play out the same if the human was a boy and the vampire was a girl. Beau (Edward) and Edythe (Bella) basically live the exact same life only in reverse roles. Some good news–Charlie and Renee are Beau’s parents and Julie is the girl version of Jacob. I’m not alone when I ask why she didn’t finish Midnight Sun, Twilight from Edwards’s point of view? Her forewords quips that their wasn’t enough time to finish that manuscript. But, you had time to rewrite an entire novel? Publishing that manuscript would have been a better surprise for the fans.

Could you imagine Edward as the clumsy and petulant Bella? Or Bella as the mercurial Edward? Nope, me either. I love the girl power (Yay women!) aspect just not the names. The cover is cool. I like the green apple vs. the red from the first book. By the way I don’t plan on reading this book. You can check out the first few chapters on Amazon. I stepped off the Twilight train after Breaking Dawn and I have no desire to return to this series. I felt the need to speak out on the topic. I’m still trying to force myself to finish Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told By Christian Grey. Exercise caution if you purchase that one it will depress you. I get the point, she wants to celebrate her milestone. Great! Just don’t change the story on us. Back to these names…I’m being petty, but there are better names than “Edythe” and “Beau”. Yes, the names represent a different era, but if you’re changing the names at least come up with catchy names. I can’t see myself daydreaming about “Beau”.The upside to this madness is getting two books for the price of one. Twilight Reimagined comes with the original novel. I agree with Meyers when she stated this will open the doors for new twilight fans. I’m a strong advocate for childhood literacy promoting reading in children of all age is very important to me. I don’t think the novel needed a rewrite. The fans are in agreement with my assertion. The upside to this madness is getting two books for the price of one. Twilight Reimagined comes with the original novel. Maybe Midnight Sun will get published. I won’t hold my breath on that one.

It took me a day in a half to finish the first novel. I was hooked on the series. New Moon wasn’t my favorite to read. The avid reader and twilight fan in me is having a hard time with this new information. Yes, my name is Elle Henry and I was a Twi-hard! Don’t repeat that to anyone else. Just kidding! The writing was not up to par with J.K. Rowling’s . I knew the plot was unrealistic. Stephenie Meyer has a knack for telling stories. Again, who cares about the writing that’s not what reading is all about. Books form a sense of escapism from real life problems. That’s the main reason people love books. I don’t know if Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined will live up to its predecessor, it sure is garnering a ton of publicity. Anyway happy anniversary Twilight I imagine we will be talking about this novel in another ten years. I guess I should stay tuned for Fifty Shades of Steele…Nah—I can’t imagine Christian as a submissive.
